Jaros, Baum & Bolles (JB&B) is pleased to announce that Stephen Keppler has joined its team as the new Director of Infrastructure. Keppler comes to JB&B from Resource Energy, where he served as the company’s Director of Sustainability. He brings over 30 years of experience in programmatic, technical and financial project development and will play a critical role in expanding and refining JB&B’s infrastructure practice.
Throughout Stephen Keppler’s career as an energy, environmental and design-build professional, he has amassed a wealth of experience working alongside commercial and institutional real estate stakeholders, developers, design teams, portfolio managers, property and facility managers, energy service companies, tenants, HVAC professionals and maintenance industry groups. This extensive body of work has provided him with an unparalleled understanding of the criteria, intent, structure, and strategies behind market transformation programs and how they can be leveraged into projects and optimization planning. This in particular will enable him to optimize coordination across JB&B’s other key existing building market sector practices and specialty services, including energy modeling, deep carbon reduction and field services, including commissioning, property assessments and MEP logistics.
Keppler’s dedication to his craft and sustainability initiatives is reflected as well by his previous roles. He has served as the LEED Program Director with the U.S. Green Building Council, Senior Consultant with ICF to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for the Energy Star Building Label and Real Estate Management Ally Partnership programs, and as a fellow with the DOE/FEMP supporting the Better Buildings Data Center Challenge. During his 12 years as the owner of a sustainability/energy modeling/commissioning consulting firm, his combined technical and programmatic knowledge allowed him to serve his firm’s clients and end-user stakeholders throughout the mid-Atlantic and Northeast building markets.
“Stephen Keppler is that rare professional who can say he has truly made an impact on infrastructure on a national and even global scale,” said Walter Mehl, a Managing Partner of JB&B. “Throughout his career, he has worked closely with a myriad of organization types and both learned from and imparted to them his own unique knowledge and understanding of the field. In doing so, he has attained a level of expertise and industry wisdom that make him an invaluable asset to our firm going forward. Stephen’s well-rounded background and unmatched hands-on experience will help JB&B optimize its efforts across all sectors and streamline efficiency in exciting ways.”
Stephen Keppler holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Science from New England College, is a LEED Accredited Professional, an AEE Certified Building Commissioning Professional, and was previously a board member of the Design-Build Institute of America’s Maryland Chapter.
