On September 23, 2021, over 350 attendees, restaurant staff and vendors enjoyed sips and bites from a variety of restaurants at the inaugural Rotary Club of Weston Food & Wine Festival, presented by BMW of Pembroke Pines. Proceeds from the event, which took place at Bonaventure Town Center in Weston, benefit the Haiti Earthquake Support Relief, Kids in Distress, Honor Flight South Florida and the Rotary Club of Weston Charitable Foundation.
The Rotary Club of Weston Food & Wine Festival, chaired by Jim Norton, raised over $35,000 for its beneficiaries. The event showcased an impressive roster of more than 20 Weston-area talented chefs, food artisans and culinary personalities, as well as 25 distinctive vintners.
Sun-Sentinel’s Arlene Borenstein-Zuluaga hosted the event. BMW of Pembroke Pines was the title sponsor for the event. Additional sponsors included Bonaventure Town Center Club, Rotary Club of Weston Charitable Foundation, Primo Liquors, Memorial Healthcare System, Hooters of Weston, OurCityMedia, Premier Investment Advisors Group, Emblem Advertising and Freedland Harwin Valori Ryan, PL.
Restaurants included Hooters of Weston, Lucille’s American Cafe, Anthony’s Coal Fired Pizza, Zona Blu, La Toretta, Angelo Elia, Spartan Gyros, Ceviche Arigato, Cleveland’s Old-Fashioned Ice Cream, and more.
With the recent earthquake that devastated Haiti, the Rotary Club of Weston is showing its support by donating a portion of the event ticket sale proceeds to the Rotary International District 6990’s Haiti Earthquake Support Relief.
“The inaugural Rotary Club of Weston Food & Wine Festival was a huge success, and we could not be prouder of the funds we raised for our community and those affected by the recent earthquake in Haiti,” said Norton, the event chair and a past president of Rotary Club of Weston. “Though we had to take necessary precautions ensure proper hygiene, the community really came together to support these causes. We are so grateful to our generous sponsors, restaurant, wineries and attendees who helped make this event happen.”
