—New Presence in Nashville, TN and Cincinnati, OH—
Slate Capital Group, a private equity investment firm that partners with lower-middle market companies, announced today its expansion to the Midwest with new local presences in Nashville, TN and Cincinnati, OH. Parker Davis will manage the Baltimore office, where Slate was established in 2004. Erik Ginsberg and Rick Corcoran will manage the Nashville and Cincinnati offices, respectively.
The firm provides liquidity to business owners and growth capital to businesses with annual earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization (EBITDA) of $3-15 million. Slate Capital Group’s primary areas of focus include business services, distribution, and select light manufacturing.
“We are excited about growth in new markets, especially thriving cities like Nashville and Cincinnati with economies that support the lower-middle market companies with which we like to partner,” said Rick Corcoran, Co-founder and Partner, Slate Capital Group. “The industry experienced a record-breaking year for private equity firms, and this expansion allows us to scale our presence, find unique proprietary opportunities, and deploy capital faster for our partners.”
Slate Capital Group’s portfolio currently consists of businesses with nationwide offices including Horizon Facilities Services; Nova Technologies; O’Donnell Metal Deck & Bar Joist; and White Distribution & Supply. Past investments have included AllTrust Networks, American Public Education, Broadcast Sports International, CoastTec, DoublePositive Marketing Group, eCoast Marketing, First Equity Card Corporation, Let’s Dish!, Questar Assessment, and Social Solutions.
“On a yearly basis, we acquire or invest in one or two new companies. We believe in focusing on a few businesses, enhancing their successes and growth, rather than pursuing a larger volume of deals and a ‘portfolio’ return,” said Erik Ginsberg, Co-founder and Managing Partner, Slate Capital Group. “We play an active role in our investments. As independent sponsors for the past eighteen years, we understand the relevance of stepping into the roles of full-time operational managers or board members for our companies. Slate Capital Group is looking forward to expanding our reach with this growth in the Midwest.”
