Taseer Badar Appointed to Crime Stoppers of Houston Board of Directors

HOUSTON–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Crime Stoppers of Houston announced that Taseer Badar, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Houston-headquartered private equity firm ZT Corporate, has joined its Board of Directors, effective immediately. Badar’s connections across the Houston business and philanthropic communities and his own personal experience of an attempted home invasion last month propelled his decision to take an active role in promoting public safety in the greater Houston Area.

“Crime Stoppers of Houston is the top nonprofit in our city that is working tirelessly to protect lives and solve serious crime in our community, and I am honored to play a role in their mission to support the safety and well-being of those in the Houston area,” said Badar. “Last month, I experienced the trauma of an attempted home invasion. Although I am grateful to have been able to protect my family, I still feel a deep disappointment and frustration at the rising crime in the city I love and have called home for 40 years. This is why I have decided to dedicate my time to helping this wonderful organization prevent something like this from happening to other families and individuals.”

“We are excited to welcome Mr. Badar to our Board this year,” said Rania Makarious, Chief Executive Officer, Crime Stoppers of Houston. “Mr. Badar shares our passion and mission to serve and protect families and has proven that he can make a positive impact on the lives of those in our community. On behalf of us all here at Crime Stoppers of Houston, we look forward to working with Mr. Badar to help keep our Houston safe.”

The way crimes are reported in the Greater Houston Area changed in July of 2019, making data for various crimes not easily comparable from 2018 to the first half of 2020. This is a major contributing factor for community concern and the reason Crime Stoppers of Houston needs more and clearer data that is widely available to community members in the Greater Houston Area.

Badar joins the board with more than 20 years of experience in the private equity sector, focusing on healthcare and automotive sectors. Badar is a sharp minded entrepreneur that has a deep knowledge of growing and operating a portfolio of successful companies. He will bring his vast connections across the city with him and use them to help promote the mission of lowering the crime rate. Badar looks forward to bringing his operational know-how to further support Crime Stoppers of Houston’s important work in the community.
