Lash & Goldberg LLP is pleased to announce that attorney Nicholas Ortiz has joined the firm’s Miami office as a Partner. Mr. Ortiz rejoins Lash & Goldberg, after serving as a Senior Associate General Counsel of Broward Health, following five years as a litigator with Lash & Goldberg. His practice will focus on complex commercial litigation and health care litigation.
Lash & Goldberg is a Florida-based law firm focused on representing business interests in litigation matters throughout the United States. The firm handles a broad range of complex commercial litigation matters, health care litigation and class actions. Lash & Goldberg has represented some of the nation’s largest companies for decades and routinely litigates with and against some of the world’s largest law firms.

Mr. Ortiz represents clients, including Fortune 500 companies and other businesses, in a range of litigation, including complex commercial litigation, False Claims Act matters, Government investigations, antitrust litigation, and regulatory matters.
A portion of his practice includes the representation of large health care systems, hospitals and other healthcare providers in managed care disputes with payers, both in court and arbitration.
As Senior Associate General Counsel of Broward Health, a South Florida health system, Mr. Ortiz served as its primary managed care attorney, advising the health system on all legal aspects of the health system’s relationships with health insurers. He also previously worked at Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton in Washington, DC, where his practice focused on antitrust litigation, class actions, and Department of Justice criminal investigations.

Mr. Ortiz earned his Juris Doctor degree from Columbia Law School, where he was a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar and an Articles Editor of the Columbia Business Law Review. Following law school, he served as a law clerk to Judge Gabriel W. Gorenstein of the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York. During law school, he served as a judicial extern to Judge Robert D. Sack of the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit and as a law clerk with the Federal Trade Commission. He received a B.A. from Dartmouth College in Economics and History.
