Tompkins Community Bank Promotes Peter Rowley To SVP, Commercial Banking Regional Manager

In a celebration of professional growth, Tompkins Community Bank has announced the promotion of Peter Rowley to senior vice president, commercial banking regional manager. In his new role, Rowley will lead a team of lenders in delivering banking strategies that translate to increased profitability and operational efficiency for Tompkins’ clients, while helping to strengthen the communities Tompkins serves.

Rowley will also serve as successor to former SVP Tony Sabolis, a 12-year veteran of Tompkins, who announced his retirement this month.

“Over the past six years, Pete has been a stellar performer at Tompkins and has played a vital role in enhancing visibility in the Berks County market,” said Jim Whitton, senior vice president and chief lending officer of the bank’s Pennsylvania region. “Pete’s commitment to the community exemplifies the Tompkins culture, and as such, we know his dedication will manifest into tangible success for his clients, our lending team, and Tompkins as a whole.”

A graduate of both Syracuse University and M&T Bank’s Commercial Relationship Management Development program, Rowley formerly served as an associate vice president at M&T bank before joining Tompkins. He currently sits on the President’s Advisory Council at Alvernia University and has been involved with Prospectus Berco, the United Way, and the John Paul II Center for Special Education. Most recently, Rowley was named a 2022 40 Under 40 honoree by Lehigh Valley Business Journal. He lives in Sinking Spring with his wife, Rachel, and twin sons, Connor and Lucas.

“I’m grateful to the entire commercial banking team for this opportunity, and especially thankful for the invaluable mentorship of so many along the way, including Tony,” said Rowley. “Moreover, I’m eager to get to work with this incredible team and see how we can continue to carry Tompkins forward as a leader and an innovator in the commercial lending space.”
