Klein’s ShopRite Partners with Community Leaders to Supply Clean Water

Clean Water was in High Demand After E. Coli was Detected in Baltimore’s Water Supply

Klein’s ShopRite recently partnered with the Baltimore City Government and Campaign Zero, a nonprofit run by DeRay Mckesson, to send clean water to Baltimore residents in need.

Many Baltimore residents struggled to access clean water after E. Coli bacteria was detected in samples of West Baltimore’s water supply.

Klein’s ShopRite sent over five tractor trailers full of gallons and 24 packs of bottled water to the Baltimore City Government and nearly three tractor trailers full of water to Mckesson to distribute.

“We could not be more grateful that Klein’s immediately stepped in to help supply Baltimoreans with clean water,” said Baltimore City Councilman Eric Costello. “The health and safety of our residents is of the utmost importance. We are thankful for community organizations like Klein’s ShopRite that consistently take action during crises and help however they can.”

“We are grateful to work with Klein’s and the city of Baltimore to get clean water in the hands of those in need,” said Mckesson, executive director of Campaign Zero. “It’s more important than ever that we come together and help those in our community, especially those who are unable to go to the store to purchase water themselves, during a public health emergency.”

Klein’s ShopRite has nine Maryland locations. The Klein’s ShopRite of Howard Park in Baltimore City is located at 4601 Liberty Heights Ave.

“Serving our community is at the core of everything we do,” said Klein’s Family Markets CEO Marshall Klein. “When we first heard that E. Coli was detected in some of Baltimore’s water supply, we knew we needed to immediately step in and use our resources to help. We are thrilled to support individuals like DeRay and Councilman Costello who are dedicated to helping residents and better the city.”
