Indoor Environmental Concepts, LLC (IEC), an industrial hygiene consulting company specializing in environmental inspections of commercial, residential and public properties, is pleased to announce its founder and principal, Michael P Menz, CIH, CHMM has been named the American Industrial Hygiene Association (AIHA) primary representative to the ASTM D22.08 Committee on the topic of Assessment, Sampling, and Analysis of Microorganisms Consensus Standard. Appointed by the AIHA Guideline Foundation Board of Directors, Menz will represent the D22 and Z10 Standards each of which have international ISO equivalents. ASTM D22 specifically addresses workplace atmospheres and air quality to include assessment, sampling and analysis of microorganisms. Z10 is part of the Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems (OHSMS) requirements, which seek to provide detailed guidance for employees, including those less familiar with the guidelines.
To be considered, applicants must be current AIHA members with demonstrated expertise in the specific area related to standard project and experience in consensus standards. The three-year term, which for Menz lasts into 2025, requires meeting participation and consultation with the Standards Advisory Panel (SAP) and AIHA Volunteer Groups (VGs) as well as reporting results and possible policy changes that affect AIHA. It is estimated that representatives will commit 100 hours annually as part of an overall effort to improving industrial hygiene nationwide.
