ATCO Properties & Management, along with partner Shorenstein Properties, LLC, announced today that revolutionary veterinary care provider Petfolk has chosen Camp North End as the location for its corporate headquarters.
Launched in Charlotte in 2020, Petfolk was founded by Co-CEOs Dr. Audrey Wystrach, a practitioner of veterinary medicine for more than 25 years, and her brother Michael Wystrach, founder and prior CEO of Freshly. The startup, which announced the closing of a $40 million Series A fundraise in August, focuses on transforming the industry by providing modern, accessible and professional pet care facilities accompanied by a proprietary technology and data platform for consumers.
Located in the Mount District of Camp North End at 201 Camp Road Suite 104, Petfolk’s 2,463-square-foot HQ has been thoughtfully designed to accommodate its Charlotte-based teams as well as mobile teams of employees traveling throughout the Southeast. The office includes flexible space for in-person and virtual meetings, as well as areas for training and development. Prior to its move this month, Petfolk rented an office at Camp North End’s coworking tenant Hygge.
“Petfolk is thrilled to select Camp North End for our corporate headquarters, as it provides the location and amenities we require to support the needs of our growing teams and company,” said Dr. Audrey Wystrach, co-founder and CEO of Petfolk. “This selection allows Petfolk to introduce another added level of creativity and innovation to our core team as we continue our expansion in Charlotte, offering a community of care for vets, pets and pet parents, along with a commitment to deliver the highest level of care, transparency, connectivity and compassion.”
Petfolk currently provides on-site appointments in serene, stress-free spaces, as well as virtual care and mobile pet care access. The company’s virtual care services augment the pet parent’s experience by providing access to expert advice and veterinarians from anywhere. Petfolk’s Mobile Pet Care Clinics allow the company to offer services in a variety of environments, such as at local pet events and through partnerships with local pet-friendly businesses. The company presently operates in North Carolina, with 2023 offices coming in South Carolina, Georgia and Florida. The Petfolk team expects to see 40,000 pets this year.
“Camp North End is a magnet for growing businesses, and we couldn’t be more pleased that Petfolk has chosen to become a permanent part of our tenant mix,” said Tommy Mann, Development Director at Camp North End. “Leasing at Camp North End includes so much more than best-in-class office space, easily accessible retail offerings, and onsite programming for employees to enjoy; it’s about joining a community where everyday interactions occur between ambitious entrepreneurs, industry leaders and creatives.”
The corporate lease expands Petfolk’s footprint in the Charlotte market, which currently includes two care centers with three more on the way.
The deal builds on ATCO’s recent commercial leasing momentum, which added Google Fiber this month and Charlotte-based Kingsmen Software in August. Camp North End is also home to commercial tenants including Centene Corporation, Ally Financial, AON, CloudGenera, Passero Associates, Pine Gate Renewables, and more. This lease brings Camp North End’s current site-wide occupancy of delivered space to 73%.
Developed by ATCO, Camp North End is a state-of-the-art creative development that is being designed and curated to serve the most innovative companies in Charlotte. Select Camp North End buildings, including 201 Camp Road where Petfolk will be located, are being developed as part of a joint venture by ATCO and Shorenstein. 201 Camp Road is part of phase II of the development, which also includes the adaptive reuse of 701 Keswick Avenue. Neighboring tenants include Grow, Free Range Bar and the upcoming arrival of HEX Coffee.
Building ownership was represented by Rhea Greene, Jennifer Kurz and Chase Merkel of Trinity Partners.
