The Eastern Shore Area Health Education Center, which works to increase the number of health care providers serving Maryland’s rural Eastern Shore, named Jessica Ransome as education program manager. Ransome specializes in education, public health education, community health and rural health.
As the education program manager, Ransome leads the center’s professional education programs, including the Elder Population Simulation, community health worker training and AHEC Scholars Program. She works closely with health care institutions and students to present role-play activities and educational programs and lectures.
Prior to joining the Eastern Shore Area Health Education Center, Ransome was a health educator with the Osteogenesis Imperfecta Foundation, where she served as the main point of contact for the osteogenesis imperfecta community, navigated inquiries daily and developed program planning skills. Previously, she collected classroom data for the AppleTree Institute for Education Innovation.
Ransome holds a Master of Education in health education and promotion from Kent State University, where she served as a graduate teaching assistant. She also earned a bachelor’s degree in public health from Kent State.
The Eastern Shore Area Health Education Center (ESAHEC) works to increase the number of health care providers serving rural and underserved areas and eliminate health disparities among diverse populations on Maryland’s Eastern Shore. Established in 1997, the nonprofit center recruits and retains health care providers by offering health education programs for professionals and students from colleges and universities in Maryland and surrounding areas.
