New World Angels (NWA) (http://www.newworldangels.com/), Florida’s premier angel investor syndicate announced today that it has completed a $1.2 million investment into Prana Inc., as part of a $2.5 million Series A round led by NWA. NWA was joined by the TMC Venture Fund and Science Center. The company has also received a $3MM non-dilutive grant from the Cancer Research and Prevention Institute of Texas Series A funds that will directly support the development and commercialization of the ThoraCore technology.
Prana is a Houston-based medical device company. The company is focused on developing solutions for the detection and intervention of early-stage lung cancer. The Prana team has developed the ThoraCore System, a small needle device to capture small nodules in the lungs for early-stage cancer evaluation. The technology is the first minimally invasive, tissue-sparing surgical tool that provides a definitive diagnosis for early-stage lung cancer.
