Caryl M. Stern, Executive Director Of The Walton Family Foundation, Takes The Stage In Boca Raton As The 2023 ICON

Celebrating its 10th anniversary this year, the Business & Professional (B&P) Division of the Jewish Federation of South Palm County will welcome a dynamic, entrepreneurial, philanthropic titan to speak to the local business community, as its ICON.

The B&P ICON event will be held 6-8 p.m., Wednesday, May 3, 2023, at Zinman Hall on the Federation’s campus, 9901 Donna Klein Blvd., Boca Raton, FL 33418. The evening will include a special reception for the Federation’s Professional Jewish Women’s Collective cohort from 5-6 p.m. and dinner during the ICON presentation.

This year’s ICON Caryl M. Stern will share her journey and her perspective on the critical intersection of business and philanthropy. A global figure, Stern serves as Executive Director of the Walton Family Foundation, a position she has held since 2020. She is a former President and CEO of UNICEF USA. Stern served as an executive at the Anti-Defamation League, where she was the Founding Director of A World of Difference, a diversity training and anti-bias project.

An author, activist and global advocate for the health and well-being of children, Stern has dedicated her career to helping others through education, compassion and the expansion of civil rights. A sought-after public speaker on Kids Helping Kids, children and philanthropy, anti-bullying and international development, Stern presented at the White House’s inaugural summit on The United State of Women. She was named one of “25 Women Changing the World in 2017” by People Magazine, “20 Most Influential Moms of 2017” by Family Circle, “25 Moms We Love” by Working Mother Magazine and “Ten Women to Watch” by Jewish Women International.

“I’ve been fortunate to hold many important titles and roles throughout my career. There are two in particular that are, personally, the most special – being a mom and Jewish woman,” said Stern. “Both ground my belief in the power of resilience, empathy and determination to drive positive change in the world”.

Previous ICON speakers have included Leon Cooperman, chairman and CEO of Omega Advisors, a New York-based investment advisory firm; Don Broide, co-founder of Purolite, one of the world’s largest innovators in biotech applications and manufacturing; Mike Leven, a hospitality visionary and former Chairman and Chief Executive of Georgia Aquarium; Jeff Rubin Founder & CEO IT’SUGAR; and Jeff Bleustein, former CEO of Harley-Davidson.

“ICON is an especially exciting opportunity for any member of the South Palm Beach County business community to learn from an international figure, while also learning about the resources to support entrepreneurship and philanthropy right here at home,” said B&P Co-Chair Ken Lebersfeld. Lebersfeld and Co-Chair Michelle Hollister invite those who may be interested in networking with B&P to also attend and find out what the division has to offer.

“With so many new people moving to the area, this is a wonderful chance to meet some key members of our local, corporate community,” Hollister said.

Cost to attend is $55; RSVP at https://jewishboca.org/bpicon
