The Financial and Career Education Game, Made for this Moment – Now Available Nationwide!

April is Financial Literacy Month

With educators across the country seeking high-quality, engaging lesson plans for online learning, the creators of Claim Your Future® are seeking partners to help make the career planning and financial education program even more widely available to students across the country. According to the Council for Economic Education, more than 1 in 6 students in the U.S. do not meet the baseline level of proficiency in financial literacy. Claim Your Future® was designed to empower middle and high school students to explore the return on investment of various career pathways and financial decisions.

“There’s never been a more urgent need for programs like this” said Mary Dyer, FAME Financial Education Officer, who led the creation of Claim Your Future. Originally designed as a teacher- facilitated classroom kit with game wheels and worksheets, the program was expanded into an adaptable digital platform at ClaimYourFuture.org. Recently, the game was deployed with two enhanced editions – Middle School and Younger and High School and Beyond. To date, hundreds of thousands of students have played Claim Your Future in all 50 states and in 90 countries worldwide. Dyer cited the increase in remote and hybrid classroom learning as one reason that educators, whom she described, as “desperately seeking online resources that are adaptable for all students, are turn-key, easy-to-execute, and engaging.” Dyer believes the success of Claim Your Future is attributable to the fact that it provides students with memorable, real-life lessons that illustrate the importance of career choices, the value of higher education, and the necessity of understanding personal financial choices in order to achieve a secure future.

Dyer says, “We know that this game is valuable to students and educators, so our team is seeking national partners to help expand the game to more of the 13,000 school districts across the U.S.” Dyer added, “We want to engage companies and organizations who believe in teaching students crucial life skills. April is National Financial Literacy Month, and we would welcome inquiries from anyone whose organization would like to help increase financial literacy education to students through our Claim Your Future program.”
