Justin Mullen Interviews David Lillefloren, CEO at Sunraycer Renewables

David Lillefloren is responsible for overseeing and growing Sunraycer’s renewable energy platform, including its efforts to acquire and develop solar and battery storage projects in the U.S.

Prior to joining Sunraycer, David worked for Constellation as a Director in the Asset Management & Power Services group for 18 years where he held a range of responsibilities including strategy, growth and execution for third-party O&M services, M&A activity, power asset integration, partnership plants, divestitures, and retired assets.

From 2014-2020 David also served on the Board of Directors for Conergy, solar energy industry provider of project development, financing, EPC and O&M services with more that 750MW installed globally (14 Countries)

As Director, Asset Management& Power Services, David sits on the Board of Directors or acts as owner’s rep to Partnership Plants, responsible for Retired Assets, and leads Merger, Acquisition, and Divesture activities which include due diligence, and integration of new projects into the company’s overall generation fleet. In addition, manages Constellation’s Third Party O&M business for Solar/Battery, Wind and Gas assets.

Since 2013, David has managed up to 1500MW of generation assets (Solar/Wind/ Hydro/Gas/Waste coal) and over $150M has been realized in revenue and savings through redevelopment/divestures of retired sites across the fleet.

In 2014 to 2019, As Preferred Director, David provided Strategy and Oversite for Conergy, a company in the solar energy industry providing project development, financing, EPC and O&M services with more than 750MW installed globally (14 Countries) to include Magnetar solar assets in in the U.K.

In 2014-2015, David Executed Exelon’s portfolio strategy in support of PEPCO acquisition through the divestiture of generating assets, raising nearly $1.4B of after-tax sales proceeds upon closings. David also supported the project refinancing of all Exelon Generation assets in Texas for 675M.

In 2011-2012, David was instrumental in the successful $7.8 B merger of Exelon and Constellation Energy. David was responsible for the development of the organization, plant processes, and Informational Technology strategy for Power Generation.

In 2010 David led the Constellation Energy’s (CE’s)$365M acquisition and integration of two new gas-fired power plants (1100MW) located in Texas and the $1.1B Boston Generating Fleet (2950MW) located in Boston, MA. As integration Lead, his role included preparing Constellation facilities and employees for start-up/transition and commercial operations.

David joined Constellation Energy in 2005 as a Master Black Belt (MBB) with CE’s Business Performance Improvement (BPI) Group. Instrumental in rolling out CE’s Continuous Improvement (CI) methodology to over 1000 employees as well as supporting CPG in numerous CI projects. As Corporate Director, Projects for BPI, he was responsible for 13 MBB/BB’s that led and supported CE initiatives in HR, IT, supply chain, finance, risk, security, operations, and strategic planning.

Prior to joining CE, David worked for GE Consumer and Industrial-Lighting for 6 years filling roles in operations to include Quality Manager, Six Sigma Black Belt and Operations Manager. David retired in 2011 as a Commander in the U.S. Navy Reserve with 20 years of service.

David is a Master Black Belt with a MPA from Troy University and a BS in Mathematics from the United States Naval Academy. He is very active in the community as a Rotarian, supporting Cystic Fibrosis, and a trustee for the US Naval Academy Athletic and Scholarship Programs Foundation board. He resides in Annapolis, MD with his wife and three children.

Justin joined Hyatt Commercial in 2017 with more than 10 years’ experience in the commercial real estate industry. As President, Justin directs the overall operations of the Hyatt Commercial Brokerage company to include the management of more than 21 agents, strategic planning, business development, and branding / marketing. In his role as President and Broker, Justin has assisted clients in a variety of industries to develop real estate strategies that maximize their resources and recognize targeted business and real estate goals. As a Principal of the Reliable Group, Justin supports the sales, leasing, and acquisition strategies of the company’s growing portfolio of real estate assets.

Justin is a 6th generation Annapolitan and a graduate of St. Mary’s High School and the University of Virginia with deep roots in the real estate and business communities across the Mid-Atlantic. He is an active member of the Touchdown Club of Annapolis, the Royal Blue Club of St. Mary’s, and the Virginia Lacrosse Alumni Network. In his free time, Justin enjoys playing golf as a member of the United States Naval Academy Golf Club, as well as spending time on the Chesapeake Bay with his family and friends. Justin currently lives in Annapolis with his wife Courtney and three young children.

Sunraycer Renewables is an owner/operator of renewable power assets. Sunraycer provides pre-NTP and acquisition capital to developers involved in all types of renewable energy endeavors. Its goal is to streamline the complexities of development and eliminate financing challenges for the developer community. Sunraycer’s strength is in its ability to collaborate with partners to solve complex challenges. Sunraycer Renewables LLC (“Sunraycer”), which was previously known as Crayhill Renewables, was founded in June 2021 by Crayhill Capital Management. Sunraycer has currently built a development pipeline of nearly 3,900 MWac of solar and BESS projects through a combination of greenfield and M&A efforts. In May 2023, David Lillefloren joined the team as Chief Executive Officer after 18 years at Constellation Energy. David is focused on building the Sunraycer team to execute on its pipeline and expand its capabilities into project construction and operations.
