American Heritage Schools Upper School PTO Broward Campus in partnership with its students, faculty and families will be hosting its third annual “Thanksgiving Meal in a Bag” food collection drive on Saturday, Nov. 4, 2023, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the School’s Broward campus to benefit Feeding South Florida – the leading hunger-relief organization serving South Florida. This Thanksgiving season, over 1.2 million individuals throughout Palm Beach, Broward, Miami-Dade and Monroe Counties are experiencing food insecurity. American Heritage Schools is determined not to let its community go without a traditional Thanksgiving dinner.
During the food drive, American Heritage Schools students are invited to bring a reusable grocery bag filled with one of each of the following items: cranberry sauce, canned yams, canned vegetables, canned beans, mac and cheese, rice, instant mashed potatoes, a box of pasta, stuffing mix, canned soup, packets of gravy, brown mix, peanut or nut butter, and a gift card for a turkey.
Students can obtain volunteer hours, for every donated “Thanksgiving Meal in a Bag,” regardless of their school. Feeding South Florida will offer students five volunteer hours for each bag donated with an opportunity to earn 25 hours (students are encouraged to bring as many bags as they want.)
