Associated Black Charities Hosts Inaugural Equity in Action Conference

Associated Black Charities (ABC) is excited to host its inaugural Equity In Action Conference, a transformative event set to take place on November 11th at Maryland Live! Convention Center. The conference is poised to bring together a diverse group of stakeholders committed to advancing equity. The experience is tailor-made for corporations, organizations, community leaders, advocates, policymakers, entrepreneurs, and workers who are dedicated to advancing equitable opportunities for Black people.

The Equity In Action Conference serves as a crucial platform for learning, collaboration, and the renewal of commitments to equity work. At this conference, individuals and organizations will have the opportunity to gain valuable insights into creating safe, inclusive spaces in workplaces and communities. The event will feature a range of sessions and discussions focused on the implementation of inclusive and anti-racist practices.

There will be workshops and learning experiences for Corporations, Organizations, and their Leaders around learning how to foster a workplace environment that not only values diversity but also actively redistributes resources and power to promote true equity, challenging traditional norms and learning how to reshape your organization’s culture to reflect genuine inclusivity and equity, the pitfalls of performative diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts, and discovering how to drive authentic change that leads to lasting impact, and shaping the future of work by defining and cultivating truly equitable workplaces that celebrate diversity and ensure fair treatment. There will be additional opportunities for Black professionals and entrepreneurs that teach strategies for breaking down barriers and navigating non-Black spaces.

“We are living in a pivotal moment,” said President and CEO Chrissy M. Thornton. “The Black community has faced centuries of systemic inequalities, and it’s time we take bold actions to address them and strategies to mitigate them openly. The Equity in Action Conference is a call to action, uniting all who care in our pursuit of positive change.”

The conference’s importance cannot be overstated, especially in the context of ongoing social and economic challenges that disproportionately affect Black communities. By promoting equity strategies, the conference will drive progress in overcoming these disparities, ultimately leading to more sustainable experiences and outcomes for Black professionals and entrepreneurs.

To make this event possible, ABC has relied on the generous support of sponsors who share their vision for the work. ABC extends its sincere appreciation to PNC, Johns Hopkins, Greater Baltimore Medical Center, CareFirst, Venable, Baltimore Community Foundation, Comcast, SECU, Maryland Nonprofits, The Harbor Bank of Maryland, Organization At Its Best, Fulton Bank, SERVE, Black Speakers Network, the Maryland Office of the Public Defender, and the AFRO whose contributions have been vital in bringing this conference to the Greater Baltimore Region.

The Equity In Action Conference is open to all individuals and organizations interested in driving change and making a difference in workplaces, access to opportunity, and more. To learn more and register for the Equity in Action Conference, visit ABC’s website.
