Senior director at McCarthy Building Companies receives volunteerism award from the Office of the U.S. President
Stephanie Lee, senior director of supplier diversity and community outreach of McCarthy Building Companies’ Southern Region, has been honored with the notable Presidential Lifetime Achievement Award by the Office of the U.S. President at the One Million Dreams Foundation for Black Women & Girls Mogul Awards.
The award, part of the White House Community Service Initiative, is reserved for individuals who have contributed more than 4,000 hours of service in their lifetime. With the recognition, honorees also receive a personalized certificate, an official medallion and a congratulatory letter from the President of the United States. The award was established in 2003 to recognize the important role of volunteers in America’s strength and national identity.
“I am deeply humbled and grateful for this recognition,” said Lee. “This award reflects my commitment to empowering and uplifting others on their unique journeys towards success. I hope to continue fostering positive change and upholding a servant-leadership mindset.”
As a member of the Board of Directors for The One Million Dreams Foundation For Black Women & Girls nonprofit organization, Lee advocates for the advancement of Black-women owned businesses, helping them to scale and create new economic opportunities.
Lee’s commitment to both the community and advancing diversity within the construction industry runs deep. Her role entails ensuring that McCarthy’s Southern Region embraces a diverse spectrum of local businesses and creates opportunities for business owners to connect with new prospects, optimize core skills and expand their network. McCarthy actively supports various community events such as the Georgia Minority Supplier Development Council, Georgia Hispanic Construction Association and the National Association of Minority Contractors.
“Receiving the Presidential Lifetime Achievement Award is a testament to Stephanie’s dedication, resilience, and unparalleled commitment to diversifying the construction industry and supporting minority-owned small businesses,” said Bobby Campbell, Executive Vice President and Atlanta Business Unit Leader at McCarthy. “This prestigious award not only reflects Stephanie’s accomplishments, but also her enduring legacy of impact, inspiring us all to make a difference.”
Since joining McCarthy in 2021, Lee has made significant contributions to the broader construction industry. Last year, she received the National Association of Minority Contractors’ Greater Atlanta Chapter Hard Hat Business Development Award. Lee initiated McCarthy’s Partner Development Program, which was launched in early 2022. The program’s objective is to educate small businesses and trade partners on effectively navigating the construction industry, offering guidance and mentorship in specific areas where they require assistance, thus steering them towards success. She also serves as a board member of the National Association of Minority Contractors.
