The Jewish Federation of South Palm Beach County’s Create a Jewish Legacy initiative hosted an extraordinary evening of inspiration and remembrance on Wednesday, February 21, 2024. Co-chaired by Bill Miller and Dale Filhaber, “A Night of Music, Hope, and Storytelling” illuminated Zinman Hall with a musical exploration of perseverance through a performance by acclaimed Israeli pianist and musicologist, Astrith Baltsan.
Baltsan’s captivating show transported the audience through time, intertwining the melodies of Israel’s national anthem, Hatikvah, with poignant storytelling about its vast international influence. Through her masterful interpretation, Baltsan conveyed the enduring hope and unwavering spirit embedded within the anthem, offering a tribute to the perseverance of the Jewish people.
“It is important to celebrate and recognize how far we’ve come as a community in securing permanent funds for the organizations we love and rely on,” said Co-chair Dale Filhaber. “You could feel the pride in the room as we came together to sing Hatikvah at the end of Dr. Astrith Baltsan’s incredible performance.”
Guests, who have all committed to leaving a legacy donation to a Jewish organization in South Palm Beach County, enjoyed a delightful light dinner and cocktails, courtesy of the Jacobson Jewish Community Foundation at the Jewish Federation of South Palm Beach County, as they mingled and reflected on the evening’s powerful message of hope and perseverance.
The Create a Jewish Legacy program is a partnership with the Harold Grinspoon Foundation that assists Jewish organizations in South Palm Beach County in promoting after-lifetime giving to build endowments that will sustain them for the next generation and beyond. Through training, support, and monetary incentives, Create a Jewish Legacy motivates Jewish organizations to secure legacy gifts, steward donors, and integrate legacy giving into the philanthropic culture of the Jewish community.
