Agency veteran Lance Koenig joins London and Boston-based marketing consultancy Rival as Managing Partner / Chief Strategy Officer, according to Rival CEO, Eric Fulwiler. Koenig returns to Boston from Havas / Chicago having spent two years as Chief Strategy Officer.
Fulwiler commented, “Our mission with Rival is to build home for the best marketing talent in the world to do the best work of their careers. For anyone who’s worked with Lance, you know he fits into that category…having worked with him at Mullen Lowe and watched what he’s done in his past few roles and for the wider marketing industry, I feel incredibly lucky and humbled that he’s chosen Rival for his next professional home. We have big plans for the next few years, and bringing Lance on board is a massive step towards realizing them.”
Prior to Havas, Koenig spent three-plus years as Head of Global Strategy at The Martin Agency. He was Chief Strategy Office at Forsman & Bodenfors and EVP Strategy Director at Leo Burnett in Chicago. Additionally, Koenig had four years of experience at Mullen Lowe in Boston as SVP Director of Strategy. He began his career with Hill Holiday, Bailey Lauerman and Arnold Worldwide.
Koenig adds, “In a world where old models are firmly entrenched, Rival’s fast success and growth is a testament to their fresh approach and challenger orientation. And one that fits me perfectly, as I’ve worked to find fresh ways for brands to understand their consumers and build relevance. I’m very excited about Rival and what the future holds.”
