Matthew Long Joins Cohen Seglias as Partner

Cohen Seglias is pleased to announce that Matthew Long has joined the firm’s Washington, D.C. office as a partner in the Construction Group representing owners, contractors, subcontractors, suppliers and architects in construction disputes and in contract negotiations.

“Matt brings more than a decade of experience helping clients navigate construction disputes and government contract issues in the metropolitan D.C. area, giving him a deep understanding of the issues facing clients in the region and throughout the U.S.,” said Steven Williams, managing partner of Cohen Seglias. “We are pleased to welcome him to our team and know that he will be an exceptional addition to the firm and help enhance the level of service we provide to our clients.”

Long is experienced in litigating disputes concerning differing site conditions, material escalation, design and product defects, delay claims, and out of scope work, and regularly negotiates and drafts contract terms addressing these issues. In addition to his construction work, he also represents clients in complex government contract and commercial disputes and provides strategic counsel to clients on government procurement issues and has handled matters involving bid protests under both state and federal procurement laws.

Prior to joining Cohen Seglias, Long worked for 12 years at a law firm in Virginia focusing on construction and government contract disputes. He earned his J.D. from the George Mason University School of Law and his B.A. from the University of Mary Washington. Long is a member of the American Bar Association’s Public Contract Law Section and Forum on Construction Law and is also active in the Virginia State Bar’s Construction Law and Public Contracts Section.
