Maryland Apprenticeship Connector (MAC) announces its selection as a 2024 Health Care Heroes of Community Outreach by The Daily Record. Amidst the most critical staffing shortages our state’s hospitals have faced in recent history, MAC is being recognized for its forward-thinking approach to workforce development. By championing youth apprenticeship programs, MAC not only addresses the immediate need for skilled healthcare professionals but also lays the foundation for a future where our healthcare system is resilient, innovative, and inclusive.
As home to several renowned medical and federal institutions, Maryland is a national leader in health care research and development. The Daily Record’s Health Care Heroes Awards honor those individuals and organizations who have made an impact on the quality of health care within the state. The winners were selected by the publisher and editors of The Daily Record.
“This year’s Health Care Heroes really are heroes. They dedicate their lives to making a positive impact on others. When it comes to meeting the needs of their patients, nothing else matters,” said Suzanne Fischer-Huettner, managing director of BridgeTower Media/The Daily Record. “They provide exceptional care to all. We at The Daily Record are honored to recognize their accomplishments.”
Health Care Heroes are presented in the following categories: Advancements and Innovation in Health Care, Community Outreach (organization and individual), Lifetime Achievement, Mental Health Hero (organization and individual), Nurse of the Year, Nurse Practitioner of the Year, Physician Assistant of the Year, Physician of the Year and Volunteer of the Year.
Greg Miller, co-founder and Healthcare Lead at MAC, shared, “Being recognized as a Health Care Hero by The Daily Record is a testament to the dedication and hard work of our entire team. This award honors our efforts to bridge the gap between the workforce needs of our healthcare system and the potential of our youth through apprenticeships.”
Honorees were recognized through an online video celebration on June 21 and profiled in a special magazine distributed on the same day. The Event Partner is the Maryland Hospital Association. To view all of The Daily Record’s 2024 Health Care Heroes winners, visit www.thedailyrecord.com/event/
