The fashion industry is at a tipping point, with sustainability emerging as a crucial necessity to combat its environmental impact. Goodwill of Delaware & Delaware County, in partnership with Miss Earth USA 2024, Beatrice Millan-Windorski, is taking bold steps to address this issue through its inaugural ReThink Fashion Show. This event, set for August 22 at 6:30 p.m. at the Goodwill Recycling Center & Outlet in New Castle, aims to inspire and educate the community about the importance of sustainable fashion.
Event Highlights:
Eco-Friendly Runway: The centerpiece of the ReThink Fashion Show is a stunning showcase of stylish, eco-friendly fashions curated by expert stylists from Goodwill’s retail stores. These unique outfits not only highlight the beauty of sustainable fashion but also demonstrate the potential for second-hand clothing to make a positive environmental impact. Attendees will have the exclusive opportunity to purchase many of these runway outfits post-show, allowing them to embrace sustainability personally and take home a piece of the movement.
Educational and Inspiring: The event will feature a curated shopping experience and an art & fashion sustainability showcase, offering attendees practical insights into sustainable practices. This is an opportunity to learn how sustainable fashion can make a positive difference in our daily lives and our planet’s future.
Meet Miss Earth USA: Beatrice Millan-Windorski, the first Filipino-American crowned Miss Earth USA, will host the event. Her advocacy for sustainable fashion through her platform “Open Hearts Open Doors” aligns perfectly with Goodwill’s mission, making her a powerful ambassador for this cause.
Why Sustainable Fashion Matters:
Environmental Responsibility: The fashion industry is one of the largest contributors to global pollution. By promoting the reuse and recycling of clothing, the ReThink Fashion Show showcases how we can reduce waste and minimize our environmental footprint, proving that sustainable fashion can be both stylish and accessible.
Community Empowerment: Goodwill’s mission goes beyond sustainability. Proceeds from the event will support programs that help individuals in Delaware and Delaware County gain skills for living wage jobs, fostering self-sufficiency and strengthening communities.
