Suzanne Zantop, Cultural Events Coordinator, has worked for the Maryland Center for the Arts since 2016. With the Executive Director, she creates and presents cultural programming events, publishes a weekly e-newsletter for Center and local cultural events, writes grants, and works with the Treasurer on budgeting. She produces the annual Harford Plein Air Festival, a juried plein air painting festival with professional painters from around the U.S., and the annual concert “Rejoice! A Community Musical Celebration,” featuring professional and amateur choruses and musicians.
An honors graduate of Michigan State University with a degree in the literary arts, Suzanne began working in arts management for the Harford Dance Theatre at Harford Community College in 1981, eventually assuming the role of Artistic Director, staging Harford County’s first full-length production of the “Nutcracker” ballet and co-creating “Harriet’s Happiest Halloween,” a holiday favorite for community children for almost 40 years. She also chaired the School Concerts Committee of Harford County, supporting professional performances and workshops in public and private schools, and served as treasurer and grant writer for the Deer Creek Chorale, performing with the group from Florida to Canada and multiple times at Carnegie Hall.
Additionally, Suzanne has acted in and produced stage productions throughout Harford and Baltimore Counties and is retired from 35 years as hospital manager of the Fallston Veterinary Clinic.
