Lang & Schwander Selected By Faena District Tulum To Support Interior Design And Ff&E Planning For The Exclusive Beachfront Resort

Lang & Schwander – a Miami-headquartered boutique hotel interior design firm, specializing in FF&E (furniture, fixtures, and equipment) projects worldwide – has been appointed by Inmobilia Mexico to support pre-construction FF&E planning and interior design documentation of Faena District Tulum.

The acclaimed resort’s highly anticipated development – which will be built along a remote, untouched beachfront parcel in Tulum, Mexico, and defined by a trio of teardrop-shaped structures – will encompass a hotel as well as a collection of branded residences, a spa, restaurant, club, and other bespoke amenities.

“It is a true honor to be engaged in this project, which represents a significant step for us in the Mexican market,” said Sebastian Lang, principal of Lang & Schwander.  “The Faena District Tulum will furthermore raise the bar for sustainable luxury in the region through eco-conscious architecture, design, and day-to-day practices.”

In addition to collaborating with Inmobilia Mexico, Lang & Schwander will be working alongside the project’s stakeholders, Brandon Haw and London-based Peter Mikic Studio. The company will also be engaged with locally based architect Taller ADG, and instrumental in the sourcing of homegrown, hand-crafted materials — from furniture, textiles, and chukums to glazed tiles.

The pre-construction FF&E planning and interior design documentation requires minute attention to detail, ensuring that every facet of the process is precisely vetted and implemented.  In a highly curated project like Faena District Tulum, the selection of furnishings, millwork, fabrics, and a range of key materials will not only guarantee that the vision of the developer is upheld, but also help streamline the in-depth design process.

“Thoughtful, quality care is what we are known for,” added Lang. “It is only through a hands-on approach that a property of this magnitude and caliber can be realized.”

Faena District Tulum is slated to break ground early next year, with completion anticipated for 2027.
