Whitman Pharmacist/Entrepreneur Sarah Russo is Guest on this Fall’s Television Show “The Floor” with Robe Lowe

Will she be the $250,000 grand prize winner this season? Will she win $20,000 for having the best performance at the end of one of the episodes? Or will she be eliminated along the way in this compelling trivia duel among contestants? Only Sarah Russo knows, and she’s not saying.

The Whitman resident, who is a pharmacist by trade as well as an entrepreneur who has hosted podcasts, developed a dating app and had her own TV show for five years, recently returned from Dublin, Ireland, from filming of Season Two of “The Floor,” the American game show hosted by Rob Lowe. This second season kicks off Wednesday, September 25, at 9 p.m. on the local Fox affiliate TV station, and Sarah will be part of the show.

The Floor is an American game show hosted by Rob Lowe which premiered on January 2, 2024, on Fox. It is based around a floor grid of squares and 100 contestants, each occupied by a contestant with expertise and knowledge of a different trivia category. In the game, pairs of contestants face each other in head-to-head trivia duels, with the winner taking over all of the territory controlled by the person who lost. Over the season, the game continues and the grand prize is awarded to the contestant who ultimately controls the entire floor. There are also secondary prizes awarded throughout the season to the player with the most territory at the end of each episode.

The game progresses over the course of a season with the grand prize awarded to the player who ultimately controls the entire floor. Secondary prizes are awarded throughout the season to the player with the most territory at the end of each episode.

All of the contestants stand in separate spaces of a nine by nine foot grid on the studio floor, and each participant begins with a category where they feel knowledgeable. As contestants face off in the head to head duel, they in turn identify a series of images or words associated with the challenged opponent’s category.

Sarah Russo said that it was a very full schedule, with each day starting at 7:30 and running until 10 p.m. She began the session with nearly 100 fellow contestants.

She had the chance to meet Rob Lowe, the executive producer, on the show, and said he was great to work with. “He’s very down to earth; he looks and acts like you see him on TV or in the movies.”

She first received the call to audition for the show back in April. She had also been approached by a casting agent to be a guest on Vanderpump Villa, a reality show filmed in France. But her college friends, who would have been part of the filming, couldn’t make it. When the call came about The Floor, she said, “It was very exciting. And what great experience being on a Hollywood-like set.”

The logistics were a bit challenging, she said, noting that she had only a little time to arrange for shift coverage at the pharmacy where she works.

This will be her first appearance on national television, although she did have her own show on Dirty Water Media for five years, which ran until Covid came along. She has also developed her own podcast, called “Sessions with Sarah,” with more than two million people listening monthly. She also co-hosts The Rac with Hollywood actor Alimi Ballard, which begins again in the fall.

While she isn’t disclosing the details of how long she will be a contestant on the show, she said that it was fun and added, “I’m looking forward to the debut of Season Two of The Floor and to being part of this series.” And she hopes you don’t miss the first episode, but if you do, there’s a good chance you’ll see her on a subsequent one.
