Better Youth, is thrilled to announce its upcoming event, “Youth Voter Outreach – Educate/Elevate/Empower,” on October 13, 2024 at The Miracle Theatre in Inglewood, CA. This groundbreaking event will engage and educate often under represented young people, about the power and importance of voting while addressing pivotal issues that impact their futures.

Event:           Youth Voter Outreach – Educate/Elevate/Empower, hosted by Better Youth
Location:     Miracle Theatre, 226 South Market Street in Inglewood
Date:              Sunday, October 13, 2024
Time:             1-5 PM
Details:         Please bring either a CA ID, CA Driver’s License or Social Security Number

As part of our commitment to fostering informed and active citizenship, this event will focus on a range of critical issues including gun safety, women’s autonomy, the economy, climate change, voting rights, LGBTQ+ rights, and the role of the Supreme Court. Our goal is to provide the next generation with the knowledge and tools necessary to make impactful decisions at the ballot box.  Better Youth Advisory Council member Harriet Zaretsky is proud to co-chair this event, saying “The youth in LA are often left out of discussions, and their voices disregarded, even though  they are often the most impacted.  Our hope is that this is the first to educate and elevate this vulnerable population, so they can make informed choices to better their lives and the lives of those in this community.”

Better Youth is partnering with other organizations, including. League of Women Voters, Institute for Public Strategies, National Coalition of 100 Black Women and Zeta Beta Sorority, CASA LA, Happy Trails, Ready to Succeed and Inglewood Church; and community schools, including Washington Prep and DaVinci Schools.

As we know, some of the basic issues facing these youth are food insecurity and basic school supplies.  We will be serving tacos from a local vendor and wood fired pizza.  Additionally, Make Good will provide some backpacks, beanies and sports related lunch bags. Make Good is a 501C3 non-profit that believes in building a more equitable society.  They provide real-time impact to the most vulnerable and underserved children and youth in LA.

Event Highlights:

  • Speakers
  • DJ Smoove
