citybiz+ Ten Eleven Ventures, Stepstone Group Co-Lead $10M Series A for Silent Push

Silent Push, a four-year-old cybersecurity startup based in Reston, Va., has closed a $10 million Series A funding round co-led by Ten Eleven Ventures, a West Coast firm with offices in Boston, and Stepstone Group LP, whose office locations include New York and Baltimore. It has previously raised $12 million.

Co-founded by cybersecurity industry veterans Ken Bagnall and John Jensen, Silent Push touts a preemptive cyber defense platform based on actionable threat intelligence derived from its so-called Indicators of Future Attacks (IOFA). The duo’s previous startup, The Email Laundry, which protected email from malware and other threats, was acquired by FireEye. Bagnall is CEO, while Jensen, who is based in Canada, is chief technology officer.

DoD Breakthrough

Together with the funding, Silent Push said it had been accepted into the U.S. Department of Defense’s Tradewinds Solutions Marketplace.

“We’ve met a big milestone with our acceptance into the Tradewinds Solutions Marketplace to streamline the procurement process. This provides faster access to our platform and services to enable the DoD to better track threats and it removes barriers for innovative startups like Silent Push,” said Bagnall, who serves as Silent Push’s CEO.

Silent Push is a standalone platform that is also available via API and integrates with any number of security tools, including SIEM & XDR, SOAR, TIP and OSINT. The new funding round is expected to accelerate Silent Push’s global expansion in EMEA and APJ regions, and strengthen its go-to-market efforts to meet growing demand.

Tailored Insights

“What really sets us apart is our unrivaled ability to identify pre-weaponized attacker infrastructure,” Marne Brase, the company’s vice president for marketing, told Citybiz.co, touting Silent Push’s IOFA system. This, he said, helps customers block threats at their perimeter and avoid damage.

“For example, we deliver with unparalleled accuracy and speed a clear view of curated lists of attacker domains and IPs going beyond just known infrastructure and we tailor insights for SOC and IR teams,” Brase said.

On the company’s entry into Tradewinds Solutions Marketplace, Brase said it aligns with Silent Push’s “mission” to help governments adopt a preemptive cyber defense to better track cyber threats and protect their communities. “Through this awarded opportunity, we’ll build new relationships and help streamline the selling process to expand our government client base,” he said.

Ten Eleven Ventures’ general partner Dave Palmer said Silent Push continues to build on its “one-of-a-kind approach to threat intelligence,” continuously mapping out internet-facing infrastructure to identify attackers setting up campaigns before they launch attacks. “The company continues to grow rapidly, both elevating the product and attracting many new customers who have been thrilled with the impact of this type of preemptive intelligence on their security programs.”
