My name is Tyson Junkers; I am a father to three and a John Maxwell certified coach and speaker helping fathers build lifelong relationships with their children.
When my first son was born, I had this idea in my head that I would still be able to be the same me. I mean, having a child is just like having a cat, right? Well, to nobody’s surprise other than my own, it turns out that having a child requires a lot of work. That realization kicked in for me on a day when I found myself getting frustrated at the needs of my 3-month-old son. I thank God for smacking me on the side of the head and telling me to do better because it was at that moment I realized that having a son may make me a father by label, but it doesn’t make me the father my children need. For that to happen, I need to be intentional with my kids.
That realization was a huge turning point in my life but also one that left me feeling completely lost. It was like someone strapped me to skis for the first time, pushed me down a mountain, and said, “Good luck!” It took a lot of work, but over that next year, I changed every aspect of my life.
I now have an incredible relationship with my wife and kids and have never felt stronger or healthier mentally, physically, and spiritually. I knew other dads were going through the same thing I went through, which is why I dedicate my time and effort to helping these dads find a new path in life, one that leads them from feeling like a stranger in their own homes to the loving and present father their children deserve.
