David Nevins Interviews Adriane Burgess, Director Perinatal and Neonatal Quality and Safety Maryland Patient Safety Center

Adriane Burgess PhD, RNC-OB, CCE, CNE, C-ONQS, CPHQ has been named the Director of Perinatal and Neonatal Quality and Patient Safety, a new position with the Maryland Patient Safety Center (MPSC).

Dr. Burgess is a registered nurse for over 25 years working in variety of maternal child health clinical settings, and an Assistant Professor of Nursing where she coordinated Maternal Child Nursing clinical and didactic courses. She holds a variety of certifications in health care quality, education, and obstetrical care.

Dr. Burgess received her PhD in Nursing in 2017 from the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee where her dissertation focused on Maternal ABO Blood Type and its Association with Preeclampsia Subtype.

The author of numerous peer reviewed journal articles on topics in maternal child health clinical quality, Dr. Burgess is invited to speak regularly at the local and national level. She has led numerous interdisciplinary team projects several of which have won national awards for their innovative quality improvement work including awards from Safe Healthcare for Every Woman, the Association of Women’s Health Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN), and the Department of Health and Human Services.
