Stradley Ronon announced today that Lisa R. Jacobs has joined the firm as a partner in the firm’s Philadelphia office. Jacobs has considerable experience representing private and public companies in a range of complex domestic and cross-border matters related to mergers and acquisitions, corporate finance, private equity transactions, asset securitizations and governance issues. Her clients include professional sports teams, food and beverage conglomerates, entertainment and hospitality industry entities, outdoor advertisers and health care service provider groups in their formation and structuring, merger and acquisition, financing and management activities, among others. Jacobs was most recently a partner at a global law firm.
“I’ve known, respected and worked with Lisa Jacobs for many years, and I couldn’t be more excited to have her join Stradley,” said Stradley Ronon Co-Chairman and Managing Partner Jeffrey A. Lutsky.
Jacobs is the fifth lateral hire in Stradley Ronon’s transactional practice in the past month and is part of the firm’s strategic focus on adding breadth and depth to its signature practice areas. Last month, the firm added four partners, three counsel and two associates in the firm’s New York office from a national law firm.
“Lisa’s multifaceted practice and broad client base enhance Stradley’s service offerings in the areas of corporate and securities, emerging companies and venture capital. We’re thrilled to have her join our growing team,” said David H. Joseph, partner and chair of the firm’s business department.
In addition to handling business transactions of all sizes, Jacobs negotiated the agreement between the Republican National Committee and the City of Philadelphia that brought the 2000 Republican Presidential Convention to Philadelphia. She also advised a variety of high-profile sports organizations, including those in the National Football League, National Hockey League and Minor League Baseball.
“Lisa is a veteran transactional lawyer, and her talents and clients fit perfectly with Stradley’s strategic acquisition of talented lateral hires to strengthen our corporate practice and the businesses and industries we serve,” added Christopher S. Connell, co-chair of the firm’s corporate, mergers and acquisitions and securities practice group.
Jacobs is an active member of national and local industry groups and serves on boards of several civic and charitable organizations. She is currently chair of the Uniform Law Commission (ULC)’s Drafting Committees on Amendments to Unincorporated Entities Acts, its Diversity and Inclusion Committee, and its Scope and Program Committees. She is also a member and current chair of ULC and the American Bar Association Joint Editorial Board on Uniform Unincorporated Organization Acts. In 2015, she was appointed chair of the Advisory Committee of the Pennsylvania Department of State Corporations Bureau (members are appointed by the Secretary of the Commonwealth). She is a member of the American Bar Association and is chair of the Business Law Section’s Business Organization Statutory Update Committee of the Pennsylvania Bar Association. She also serves as a member of the Pennsylvania task force that drafted Act 170 – the legislation that overhauled the Commonwealth’s business organization laws – and is a board member and corporate secretary of the Women Business Collaborative. She is on Republic First Bancorp’s Board of Directors and serves as vice chair of the Greater Philadelphia YMCA Board of Directors.
In the community, Jacobs serves as pro bono counsel to Teen Cancer America, a charitable organization sponsored by The Who’s Roger Daltrey and Pete Townsend and devoted to improving the lives of teenagers and young adults with cancer, the Museum of the American Revolution, and Liberty Steam Fire Engine Co. No. 1 of Spring City. Jacobs also serves as a lecturer in law at the University of Pennsylvania Law School.
She earned her J.D., cum laude, from Villanova University School of Law and her B.S., cum laude, at the University of Pennsylvania.
