MCLEAN, Va.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Great Place to Work and Fortune magazine have once again honored Sunrise Senior Living as one of the 2021 Best Workplaces in Aging Services. Marking the third year for Sunrise to achieve a top ranking, 77% of Sunrise’s team members said Sunrise is a great place to work, 18% higher than the average U.S. company. The award is based on an analysis of survey responses from more than 220,000 current employees across the industry.

Team members across Sunrise’s more than 270 U.S. communities ranked their workplace high in respect, pride, and being able to make a difference. Specifically, 88 percent of team members reported that working at Sunrise has special meaning, and they feel they make a difference, with 87 percent saying they felt welcome and had a sense of pride in their work.

“For nearly 40 years, Sunrise has been able to deliver on its mission to champion quality of life for all seniors because our incredible team members work each day to provide excellent, highly personalized care and service,” said Jack R. Callison, Jr., chief executive officer for Sunrise Senior Living. “The dedication, serving heart, and commitment of everyone at Sunrise has allowed us to not only persevere through the last year but to emerge from it stronger and more unified than ever. Our heroic team members and the culture they foster are the reason Sunrise earned a top-10 ranking on this prestigious list, and I could not be prouder of their mission-driven efforts.”

The Best Workplaces in Aging Services list is highly competitive. Great Place to Work, the global authority on workplace culture, selected the list using rigorous analytics and confidential employee feedback. Companies were only considered if they are a Great Place to Work-Certified™ organization. Additionally, Great Place to Work is the only company culture award in America that selects winners based on how fairly employees are treated. Companies are assessed on how well they are creating a great employee experience regardless of employees’ race, gender, age, disability status, or any other classification or what their role is.

“We are incredibly proud of The Best Workplaces for Aging Services. They fought bravely and saved countless lives during the COVID-19 pandemic,” says Dr. Jacquelyn Kung, chief executive officer of Activated Insights, the partner of Great Place to Work in senior care. “Years of research has shown how great workplaces contribute to lower employee turnover and better quality of life for seniors. About Best Workplaces for Aging Services

To be considered, companies had to meet the Great Place to Work-Certified standard. To ensure survey results truly represent all employees, Great Place to Work requires that Trust Index survey results are accurate to a 95% confidence level with a 5% margin of error or better. We review any anomalies in survey responses, news, and financial performance to ensure there aren’t any extraordinary reasons to believe we couldn’t trust a company’s survey results. Companies appear on either an At-Home Care or Senior Housing & Care list segment. All At-Home Care companies appear on the same list, regardless of their size. Senior Housing & Care companies are divided into large and small or medium companies. Those Senior Housing & Care companies with 10 to 999 people were considered for the small and medium category; those with 1,000 employees or more were considered for the large category.
