
DLA Piper is pleased to announce that Dean Fealk, managing partner of the firm’s San Francisco office, has been selected as a 2021 Abshire-Inamori International Fellow of the Center for Strategic International Studies (CSIS).
Based in Washington, DC, CSIS was named the number two think tank in the United States by the University of Pennsylvania’s “Go To Think Tank Index.” CSIS is one of the world’s preeminent international policy institutions dedicated to advancing practical ideas to address the world’s greatest challenges.
The Abshire-Inamori International Fellowship, CSIS’s flagship leadership program, equips mid-career leaders in the corporate, nonprofit, military and government arenas from around the globe to be effective and ethical changemakers who enact innovative solutions to the challenges of today’s volatile world. Each fellow is given the opportunity to increase the significance of their professional skills and leadership potentials in a multicultural, cooperative and cross-sector environment.
Fealk advises industry-leading multinational companies on strategic issues related to international expansion and navigating complex regulatory issues. He also advises world leaders and politicians on public policy issues across international trade, economics and foreign policy. He has advised three US presidential campaigns and represented the state of California on trade and investment missions around the globe.
Active in civic leadership, Fealk is honorary chair and a founding member of the Halifax International Security Forum, past chair of the Northern California District Export Council and was appointed by Governor Newsom to the California Workforce Development Board. He served as national co-chair of Lawyers for Biden, and serves on the board of directors of the Silicon Valley Leadership Group, Bay Area Council and the California Business Roundtable, and as a trustee of World Affairs. He has been designated an honorary Senator of the German Economy, an Eisenhower Fellow to China, a Marshall Memorial Fellow to the EU, a Fulbright Scholar to Korea, a Presidential Leadership Scholar, a Carnegie New Leader and a Truman National Security Fellow. Fealk is a graduate of Leadership San Francisco and a life member of the Council on Foreign Relations.
