Bringing over 35 years of commercial real estate experience, Suman will play an integral role in Bridge’s growth in the Western U.S.
Bridge Investment Group’s (Bridge) subsidiary Bridge Office announced today the hiring of Suman Gera as Managing Director of Acquisitions and Asset Management. The move is effective immediately and reflects Bridge’s growing footprint across the country as it continues to expand its portfolio of premier suburban office properties in high growth markets.
In her new role, Gera will oversee day-to-day operations of Bridge’s portfolio of seven Class-A office buildings totaling 2.9 million square feet in Arizona, California and Colorado, where she will have direct responsibility over a team of analysts who assist in the underwriting of potential acquisitions and dispositions and administration of asset management tasks. Additionally, Gera will manage property-level operating activities, negotiate leases, lead the sales and marketing process of assets, and provide acquisition leadership in deal procurement and due diligence processes.
“Suman is an experienced industry veteran whose diverse skill set will allow her to hit the ground running,” said CEO Jeff Shaw. “Her deep network of contacts in the institutional investment arena and proven asset management abilities will be invaluable to our team during this period of growth as Bridge continues to cultivate and develop new opportunities in the Western U.S.”
Prior to joining Bridge, Gera served as Managing Director for Aegon Asset Management in San Francisco. She was responsible for executing the investment strategy of real estate assets including the redevelopment, renovation and disposition of the iconic 48-story Transamerica Pyramid Tower, 20 and nine-story office buildings and Redwood Park, which generated a significant return for Transamerica. Prior to Aegon Asset Management, Gera was a Senior Advisor of Asset Management at Atlanta Housing Authority. Additionally, Gera served as Managing Director, Asset Management, Americas at TIAA-CREF, where she led a team responsible for investment operations for assets in excess of $38 billion.
“I am thrilled to join Bridge and utilize my asset management experience and institutional background to better serve our office communities and investment partners,” said Gera. “I look forward to playing an active role as we tackle new challenges and develop ideas that will help pioneer the next chapter of office real estate in the years ahead.”
Gera has a broad range of experience with a variety of leading institutional investment players, including IBM, Canada Pension Plan Investment Board (CPPIB), and the Massachusetts Pension Reserves Investment Management Board (PRIM), along with several international pension funds.
Gera holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from Georgia State University and is Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM) and a Certified Public Accountant (CPA). She is an active member of Commercial Real Estate Women (CREW) and Urban Land Institute (ULI). She was a member of the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC), National Council of Real Estate Investment Fiduciaries (NCREIF), and Pension Real Estate Association (PREA). She is also a former member of Urban Land Institute’s Global Exchange Council and a member of Affordable Workforce Housing Council. Additionally, Gera was selected as a “Woman of Influence” by Real Estate Forum Magazine in 2016.
