Nonprofit marks holiday with the only 24-hour Veterans Day event on November 11.
In honor of Veterans Day, Veterans Breakfast Club (VBC) is hosting a 24-hour live stream celebration on Thursday, November 11, from 12 a.m. to 11:59 p.m. ET. The event will honor veterans nationwide, and every hour will feature community tributes, veterans’ stories, military history, GI humor, Armed Forces trivia, archival videos and interviews, giveaways and guest hosts from across the globe. Viewers can tune in for free to watch, listen and participate in the Vet-A-Thon via Zoom and on the VBC’s social media channels.
“Veterans Day is the one day we set aside to honor all Veterans’ service to our country,” said Todd DePastino, founder and executive director of VBC. “I think the best way to thank veterans is to listen to their stories and remember their living history. We are so excited to share the first ever VBC Vet-A-Thon and are thankful for our community and corporate partners who make this possible. During the event, we encourage all to join and listen, share, and pay tribute to those who’ve served.”
The Vet-A-Thon will raise funds to match a challenge grant offered by the Pritzker Military Foundation to extend the Veterans Breakfast Club’s community-building and storytelling programs to veterans, military families and their supporters nationwide. The Foundation will match, dollar for dollar, new sponsorships and donations generated by the Vet-A-Thon up to $25,000. Reaching this challenge goal will help VBC connect, heal, educate and inspire more Americans and, in so doing, work to create a nation that understands and values its veterans’ experiences.
VBC’s Vet-A-Thon is sponsored by Pritzker Military Museum & Library and Westinghouse Electric. For anyone interested in participating, the full schedule of the event can be found here: veteransbreakfastclub.org/vet-a-thon.
