Lytos, a vodka for consumers seeking an easy to drink spirit, is now sold in bars, restaurants, and liquor stores throughout the Baltimore region.
Lytos, a Baltimore-based company that specializes in making gluten-free premium vodka with added salt, potassium and phosphorus, is celebrating its first full year of operations as it eyes expanding regionally.
After debuting in November 2020, Lytos Vodka is now sold in nearly 150 bars, restaurants, and liquor stores in greater Baltimore.
“Lytos is the first vodka with salt, potassium and phosphorus as added ingredients”, said Billy Fanshawe, Founder of Lytos. “I’m pleased with our growth in such a short amount of time and am very excited to continue sales throughout Maryland and eventually the entire region. We are producing some of the smoothest vodka in the country.”
Recognizing that traditional spirits tend to be harsh, Lytos’ mission is to bring consumers a spirit that is easy to drink and enjoyable, while providing a drink for those needing a distilled spirit alternative.
“I was mixing different sports drinks and ingredients with vodka in my early twenties and finally decided to make my own version of that as I grew into my late twenties,” Fanshawe said. “At the start of 2019 I broke ground with a mission to make a product the was enjoyable, fun, and easy to drink. Something to have for a day on the beach or the golf course.”
Lytos is distilled from domestically sourced-farm fresh corn, making it gluten-free. It is then infused with salt, potassium, and phosphorus, the compounds found in sophisticated sports drinks but without the added sugars.
Fanshawe is a Severna Park native and Towson University Graduate. Some of the first bars to purchase Lytos are in the Severna Park, Pasadena and South Baltimore area where Fanshawe spent time cold-calling local establishments.
“I really want to make this something the community gets excited about,” Fanshawe said. “Of-course I want to take this to a national scale, but I want people from Maryland to be proud and get behind this product.”
