Tradepoint Atlantic, the 3,300-acre global multimodal logistics hub and industrial center located at Sparrows Point within the Port of Baltimore, today announced its new wholly-owned subsidiary Tradepoint Terminals will assume stevedoring and terminal operations at Tradepoint Atlantic’s marine terminal. Tradepoint Terminals specializes in the expert handling of bulk, break-bulk cargoes, and offers a full suite of services including vessel discharge and loading, customized storage solutions, material processing, foreign trade zone operations and inventory management. Tradepoint Atlantic’s marine terminal consists of six deep water multi-commodity berths and provides unparalleled access to rail and interstate highways.
“This is a big step forward in our efforts to provide supply chain-focused solutions at Tradepoint Atlantic,” said Kerry Doyle, Tradepoint Atlantic Managing Director. “The creation and launch of Tradepoint Terminals is the next logical step in our overall growth strategy. The combination of stevedoring and terminal services (Tradepoint Terminals) with our real estate development (Tradepoint Development) and short line rail (Tradepoint Rail) capabilities creates a unique platform to provide simple and comprehensive logistics solutions. We are proud to offer this fully-integrated service as a way to better serve our customers to more efficiently move their products from ship to storage, to rail or highway and back again. Combined with new industries like offshore wind, the future has never been brighter or more exciting at Tradepoint Atlantic.”
Tradepoint Terminals has assumed operations and stevedoring services from Host Terminals. As Host’s successor, Tradepoint Terminals will provide full-service operations and logistics for all current and future customers that utilize Tradepoint Atlantic’s bulk and break-bulk marine terminal. In addition to expanding connectivity to global supply chains, Tradepoint Terminals will provide port service operations for the growing offshore wind industry and will store a broad diversity of commodities to include agricultural, construction, energy, and metals products.
The experienced leadership team at Tradepoint Terminals, with over 100 years in the terminal operations business, is practiced in the efficient and expert handling of cargo to and from vessel, rail, and truck.
Tradepoint Terminals has also reached a labor agreement with Local 37 – International Union of Operating Engineers, the terminal’s incumbent labor partner to provide best in class service and expert cargo handling. IUOE Local 37 has been an integral labor union that has helped with the redevelopment of Sparrows Point into Tradepoint Atlantic and has also provided terminal operations labor for Sparrows Point’s marine terminal for over 40 years.
“IUOE Local 37 is a proud and experienced labor force that has run bulk and break-bulk operations for over 40 years at Sparrows Point and has worked with Tradepoint Atlantic to revitalize Sparrows Point over the last seven years. We are excited to continue that tradition and look forward to building upon our long-standing partnership with Tradepoint Atlantic,” said Bob Holsey, Business Manager for International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 37.
