Kaia Health Appoints Beth R. Jacobson, J.D., as General Counsel

NEW YORK–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Kaia Health, the digital therapeutics company on a mission to democratize access to healthcare, today announced that Beth Jacobson, J.D., has joined the company as General Counsel. In her role, she will oversee corporate legal initiatives and head legal strategies to support the company’s growth.

“We welcome Beth to the Kaia Health leadership team and look forward to leveraging her extensive healthcare experience as we expand our organization, not only in terms of size, but also in terms of the scope of our digital therapeutics offering,” said Nigel Ohrenstein, president of Kaia Health. “We are excited to draw upon her background in strategic partnerships, fundraising, and digital health transactions to accelerate our growth and increase access to high-quality care.”

Jacobson is well-versed in the complexities of business and healthcare and is also a frequent speaker on telemedicine at the White House, the Internal Revenue Service, and the United States Department of Health and Human Services. She serves on the White House and Administration Advisory Group, the Alliance for Telehealth Integrity, the Telehealth Drafting Committee, and the Editorial Committee of the Federation of State Medical Boards. She is also on the Board of Directors of Optimal Cancer Care Alliance and a member of its Executive Committee.

“I’m thrilled to join Kaia Health at such a pivotal time for the organization, as rapid client growth translates into even more opportunities to improve access to healthcare for more people,” said Jacobson. “Digital healthcare has always been a personal passion of mine, and I look forward to bringing my extensive legal experience supporting healthcare organizations to the role.”

Beth comes to Kaia Health from Included Health, where she served as deputy general counsel and oversaw legal initiatives in telemedicine, human resources, litigation, lobbying, and business development, including leading the acquisition of Doctor On Demand. Additional experience includes roles as General Counsel at Cogent Healthcare, DaVita Kidney Care, and PDI, Inc., and as a corporate attorney at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom. In addition, Beth discovered thalidomide as a cure for multiple myeloma and was credited for her discovery in the New England Journal of Medicine.

Jacobson’s appointment comes on the heels of Kaia Health naming Nigel Ohrenstein as president to lead the company’s next phase of growth in the United States. The company also recently announced the addition of more than 50 new clients to start the new year and will continue to support this growth as it builds out the executive leadership team.
