Rockefeller Center Welcomes Suffolk and Applied Underwriters to 50 Rockefeller Plaza

National Real Estate Organization is Building Out 24,000+ Square Feet, Expanding Its NYC Footprint by 60 percent

50 Rockefeller Plaza Features New Rooftop Park and Reimagined Lobby

Rockefeller Center and Suffolk, a national real estate enterprise, today announced that Suffolk will relocate its New York City headquarters to more than 24,000 square feet at 50 Rockefeller Plaza. The move represents a 60 percent increase in square feet for Suffolk’s New York City’s operation, previously located at 1 Penn Plaza. Upon completion of the buildout in May 2022, nearly 160 Suffolk employees will begin working in its New York City office—up from just 4 in 2015. Suffolk joins Katten and Citrin Cooperman as recent arrivals to 50 Rockefeller Plaza, an iconic Art Deco building that features a newly built rooftop park, Radio Park; and a dramatically reimagined lobby—both of which emphasize Tishman Speyer’s commitment to hospitality, while hewing to the magic of Rockefeller Center’s history.

“We are delighted to welcome Suffolk to 50 Rockefeller Plaza, which will undoubtedly be the ideal site for their significant expansion in New York City,” said EB Kelly, Managing Director, Tishman Speyer, and Head of Rockefeller Center. “When Suffolk team arrives to 50 Rockefeller Plaza, they’ll be part of the Rock Center family, and discover both a new, magical rooftop park and a reimagined lobby that are emblematic of Rockefeller Center—welcoming, warm, and built to the highest standards of design, weaving our quintessential New York magic with contemporary amenities. From Radio Park, to customer lounges, to the incredible food, beverage, and retail offerings that will continue to unfold throughout the year, no other place can offer this experience of work and play. We look forward to the Suffolk team discovering the many joys and unmatched amenities of Rockefeller Center.”

“The New York construction market continues to grow and provide Suffolk exciting opportunities to expand our operation and position us as a major player in the region,” said Ralph Esposito, President of the Northeast, Mid-Atlantic and New York for Suffolk. “We are absolutely thrilled to move our New York operation to 50 Rockefeller Plaza. Our new office space in this iconic building symbolizes our rapid growth and ambitious plans to be the very best builder in the New York region.”

“It was a pleasure working with the entire Suffolk team on this great expansion project. After thorough market tours, we identified 50 Rockefeller as a great new home for Suffolk not only because the space fit their operational needs but because of the amenities of Rockefeller Center and within 50 Rock specifically,” said Paul Myers, Silvio Petriello, Evan Fiddle and Rob Hill, the CBRE team representing Suffolk. “It is an iconic place and address for good reason.”

Suffolk’s move to 50 Rockefeller Plaza demonstrates the organization’s strong momentum, significant gains in market share, and long-term promising future in New York. Suffolk’s New York operation is responsible for managing the construction of highly visible building construction projects including “The Quay” at Brooklyn Bridge Park, Zero Irving, Summit NYC at 222 East 44th Street, multiple projects for New York University, and Hudson Exchange West in Jersey City, among other notable projects. Suffolk has also hired numerous strategic leaders in its New York office, including Ralph Esposito as president, Gerald Bianco as vice president of operations, Joseph Whalen as vice president of operations and Alexis McGuffin as vice president of business development, among others.

50 Rockefeller Plaza opened in 1938 as the home of the Associated Press. Isamu Noguchi’s famed stainless steel sculpture, News, graces the façade, leading to a lobby that has been newly reimagined by design firm Studio Mellone. In late 2021, Radio Park, a private green space on the roof, opened for those who work at Rockefeller Center and their guests. Taken together, these amenities encourage collaboration, relaxation, and productivity at New York City’s premier office destination.

Beloved as the city’s most iconic location in Manhattan, as well as for its unparalleled list of amenities and access for employees who report to the Center each day, Rockefeller Center offers numerous food and beverage options from the city’s most creative independent restauranteurs; a programming slate filled with the best art and entertainment in the city; and the ZO. Clubhouse featuring exclusive programs, services, and spaces for employees.
