Smith, Gambrell & Russell, LLP is pleased to announce that Thomas C. Helm has joined the Firm as chief marketing officer (CMO). In this role, he leads a team responsible for driving the marketing and business development strategy for the Firm. For more than 20 years, Mr. Helm has worked in-house for commercial law firms in various senior marketing and business development roles. Most recently, he spent eight years leading the business development efforts for global law firm, Bryan Cave Leighton Paisner LLP.

Throughout his career, Mr. Helm has successfully launched integrated marketing and communications campaigns and instituted business development coaching and training programs for lawyers and marketing professionals. Additionally, he has led numerous strategic projects, including playing an integral role in a global Am Law 100 firm merger. Mr. Helm is an active member of the Legal Marketing Association (LMA), previously serving as Chapter President of the Southeast Region, as co-chair of the LMA Education Advisory Council, and currently as the co-chair of the LMA Client Value Shared Interest Group.
Mr. Helm received his B.A. from the University of North Florida. Prior to joining the legal industry, he worked for a national nonprofit health agency where he led fundraising and client service.
