Rep. Robin Bartleman Presents Challenge Coin to Stryker Recognizing Florida’s Expanding High-Wage Manufacturing Sector

South Florida Manufacturers Association, the region’s leading resource for manufacturing companies, is pleased to announce that today it hosted Representative Robin Bartleman (D-Weston) for a tour of Stryker’s manufacturing plant in Weston, FL. While there, Representative Bartleman presented Stryker with a limited-edition challenge coin of the state’s first-ever Manufacturing and Supply Chain Caucus.

The event is part of a year-long campaign titled Florida MFG 2022: Making Manufacturing Careers by the Florida Advanced Technological Education center focused on increasing awareness of manufacturing and highlighting those companies in our state that are creating high-wage high-value jobs. “Manufacturing is an important economic sector in Florida and seeing facilities like Stryker’s manufacturing reinforces how crucial it is for this essential industry to continue to grow, thrive and create jobs throughout the state,” said Representative Bartleman.

The goal of SFMA is to help advance South Florida’s business climate related to manufacturing so that its members can focus on its core business, strengthening the economy and creating jobs. Through its extensive resources, networking and advocacy, SFMA strives to be the voice of manufacturing in the region, which has created more than 5,000 jobs and $1.3 billion in economic impact since 2016.

“Stryker is a perfect example of the significant economic impact manufacturing has in South Florida, and we are grateful to Representative Bartleman for taking the time to come and tour this impressive facility,” said Roberto Plazola, President of South Florida Manufacturers Association.

“We are excited by the launch of Stryker’s Robotics Innovation Center in Weston, Florida which furthers our commitment to world class manufacturing and development of Mako SmartRobotics for hip and knee replacement,” said Don Payerle, President of Joint Replacement at Stryker.
