The iconic Hampden restaurant Cafe Hon is hosting its final dinner service Friday night.
Owner Denise Whiting announced the restaurant’s closure in a statement released Friday morning. The space will be newly leased to the Foreman Wolf Restaurant Group, the statement said.
“I am so happy that Cafe Hon provided a place for so many special memories. Tony (Foreman) and I have been acquaintances for decades and Petit Louis holds a special place in my heart. I have spent some of my best times at Petit. I look forward to seeing what comes next for the space,” Whiting said in the statement.
“Cafe Hon has been important to the city of Baltimore and to Hampden for many years,” Foreman said. “We respect all of the efforts at Cafe Hon that have brought the spirit of this deeply Baltimore neighborhood to the public eye.”
Whiting said she will continue to host and organize HONfest, which she founded in 1994. This year marks the 28th year of the celebration, which will take place June 11-12.
