WHAT: Marriott Bethesda Downtown at Marriott HQ, open as of March 1, 2022, welcomed its third dynamic food-and-drink concept, Hip Flask, on Tuesday, May 3. Serving as Bethesda’s first and only high-rise rooftop bar, Hip Flask will be a place for guests and locals to connect, dine and enjoy the best views of Bethesda.
Featuring a spirits-forward menu with flair, innovative tableside presentations and zero-proof cocktails peppered throughout seasonally rotating menus, Hip Flask will satisfy any guest’s palate. The signature Tiger Vogue cocktail, made with Makers 46, tiger nut, chicory and orange bitters, is shaken and stirred, then presented in a flask that’s hidden inside of a book, speakeasy style. Shareable bites such as Pimento Cheese Deviled Eggs, Hip Flask Popp’d Corn and an Artisanal Meat & Cheese Board featuring locally sourced from Stachowski Market pair perfectly with featured local brews and non-alcoholic cocktails including The Running Man, made with espresso, vanilla, cinnamon and Fever Tree tonic.
Hip Flask is beautifully designed, with deep blue tones resembling the nearby Potomac River that glimmer in the reflection of the natural light from retractable floor-to-ceiling windows. The space features ample bar and lounge seating, with outdoor seating available on the expansive terrace with unparalleled city views, plus convenient access for non-hotel guests via a separate elevator in the lobby.
Helmed by Executive Chef Dupree Braswell and Senior Food and Beverage Operations Manager Will Shifrin, the extraordinary food and beverage program will showcase some of Maryland’s finest artisans and farmers through locally sourced ingredients and thoughtful collaborations with local makers.
