Chef Todd Hogan brings a new burger restaurant to Atlanta with a philanthropic twist. The award-winning and beloved chef is opening Community Burger in late spring at The Mill on Etowah, an adaptive re-use development near historic downtown Canton.
The eatery will feature a carefully crafted menu of burgers, salads, and sides, and will create and serve custom-batch cocktails on tap. Community Burger also plans to offer customers a give-back program to support the local community.
The menu boasts both traditional and non-traditional burger options that are sure to please an assortment of palates:
- The classic H Burger and CH Burger (with cheese) come with toppings like lettuce and tomato
- The Texican burger (pictured below) topped with green chiles
- The veggie burger made with garbanzo beans, wild mushrooms, and goat cheese
- The menu also features an international-inspired burger section that includes a brat-burger and — one of Hogan’s favorites — the huevos rancheros burger
In addition to burgers, the restaurant will offer a selection of starters and three fresh salads:
- chopped salad, baby spinach, and baby kale with the option of adding both traditional and unique proteins such as blackened chicken, salmon, or corn-dusted grouper
- chipotle-ranch Brussels sprouts, handmade crispy tater tots, crispy sweet potato fries, hand-cut fries, and mac and cheese
Along with making great burgers, Community Burger will feature a give-back program where guests can nominate and then vote on different charities or community projects they care about. Community Burger will then donate a percentage of its proceeds to the three winning programs each quarter.
“We wanted to create a concept that really helped support our community,” Hogan says of the give-back program. “When we were coming up with the name, Community Burger just made sense. We want to be an important part of the community, not only because of our great food but also because we can listen to the causes our customers care about and give back to those in need.”
Chef Hogan is a well-known culinary force in Atlanta: he has been in the restaurant industry for nearly 40 years, most recently at the helm of Branchwater, with locations in Cumming and Canton, and Branch & Barrel in Alpharetta’s Avalon community. A Johnson & Wales graduate, three-time James Beard House invitee, DiRōNA award winner, and frequent Food Network guest star, Hogan brings his extensive experience and passion for food and community building to this new project. Everything on the menu — from spice blends to ketchup — is made in-house and specific to Community Burger.
“When I got into the restaurant industry it was to support my family,” Hogan says, looking back on his years in the industry. “But I didn’t know just how big that family would become. Everyone I’ve met along the way I now consider part of that family.”
