The Non-Profit Organization Honors Fallen Heroes whilst Supporting Veteran- and Gold Star Community by Hosting Annual Patriot Week
Massachusetts Fallen Heroes – the veteran-built and veteran-run non-profit organization that honors the sacrifice of those who died while serving our country in post-911 wars, supports the Gold Star Families left behind and empowers Veterans and Gold Star Families to keep pushing forward in all aspects of life – is proud to announce their annual Patriot Week presented by Amazon, State Street, Select Demolition and Wellington Management, commencing on Saturday, May 21 and concluding on Tuesday, May 31.
Throughout the weeklong event series, the Massachusetts Fallen Heroes team will offer a variety of activities and programs they created in an effort to further educate local communities on the importance of Armed Forces Day and Memorial Day. Through these curated events, they hope to engage with citizens, honor the fallen soldiers and reinforce the true meaning of Memorial Day. Marquee events throughout the week will include:
- Flags for the Fallen (Friday, May 20; 11am @ 85 Northern Avenue) – volunteers help kick off Patriot Week by building a sea of flags in honor of each of our fallen heroes. Those flags remain standing through the Memorial Rededication Ceremony to commemorate Patriot Week.
- InnoVets Business Expo and Pitch Competition (Wednesday, May 25; 5pm @ PWC) – presented by Hanscom Federal Credit Union, Veteran- and Gold Star Family-entrepreneurs will showcase their business, and pitch their products or services to judges for their chance at $25,000 to push their businesses forward.
- Memorial Dinner (Thursday, May 26; 5 – 9pm @ Encore Boston Harbor) – the 12th annual event will bring together Gold Star Families, Veterans, corporate and civic leaders, and distinguished guests to raise awareness of the programs and services provided by Mass Fallen Heroes.
- Memorial Rededication Ceremony (Friday, May 27; 1pm @ 85 Northern Avenue) – the 7th annual Rededication of the Mass Fallen Heroes Memorial will host Gold Star Family members, elected officials, distinguished guests and the general public. Updated glass panels with the names of the most recent Fallen Heroes will be unveiled by Gold Star Family members.
- Gold Star Family & Veteran Social (Monday, May 30; 11am @ 85 Northern Avenue) – Gold Star Family members, Veterans and Mass Fallen Heroes supporters cap off the week with a social gathering paying tribute to our fallen.
“The last few years have been challenging for everybody as we have not been able to hold events, especially those within Patriot Week, to raise awareness for our Gold Star Families and the Veteran community,” said Mass Fallen Heroes Co-Founder and Executive Director, Dan Magoon. “With the help and financial support of some of Boston’s most reputable businesses and organizations, Patriot Week returns stronger than ever with a thorough calendar of events. As our community slowly returns to the stable norms that we knew before the pandemic, Mass Fallen Heroes will continue to serve the needs of our Gold Star Families and Veterans and continue to evolve and develop new programs and initiatives while staying true to our original mission.”
