Center Parc Credit Union and Atlanta Postal Credit Union to Host Diaper Drive for Helping Mamas

Combined Brands to Support Georgia’s Only Baby Supply Bank

Atlanta Postal Credit Union (APCU) and its community-minded brand, Center Parc Credit Union (CPCU), will host a month-long diaper drive at four metro Atlanta locations in July to benefit Georgia’s only baby supply bank, Helping Mamas.

“At APCU and Center Parc, we’re interested in serving our communities where they need it most,” said Chuck Head, CEO of both brands. “When Helping Mamas shared with us that more than 300,000 children live in poverty in our metro Atlanta community, we knew we needed to help.”

According to statistics from the National Diaper Bank, families can spend between $80 to $100 a month on diapers for one child alone. And the cost can rise if families don’t have transportation to big box stores. In 2021, Helping Mamas served more than 50,000 individuals in the Atlanta areaby providing more than one million baby supplies and period care products.

“Community is key for us,” Head said. “We truly care for the people they serve as well as their neighbors. Partnering with Helping Mamas gives us an opportunity to further our outreach – and we couldn’t be more excited to do so.”

About Helping Mamas:

Helping Mamas, the sole baby supply bank in the state, was founded in 2014 by Jamie Lackey. After years of working as a social worker and in the nonprofit sector, Lackey saw a gap between the hard work she did as a social worker and the need from those she served for basic baby supplies. With one in three women in Georgia unable to afford diapers, she launched Helping Mamas to bring relief. Each year, Helping Mamas serves nearly 60 thousand children in need and distributes 2 million essential baby supplies to families living in poverty. Helping Mamas currently works with over 150 partner agencies across the state to supply mothers in need of essential items.
