Baltimore Orioles outfielder Austin Hays will award a $20,000 scholarship to one Maryland high school or college student.
Hays created the Austin Hays Scholarship in partnership with the Orioles and Bold.org, a platform that helps fight student debt by allowing individuals, organizations and companies to offer personalized scholarships, grants and fellowships.
Hays, who personally funded $10,000 with an equal match from the Orioles Charitable Foundation, is part of a long list of athletes who have supported education through Bold.org, including NBA star Carmelo Anthony, who grew up in Baltimore.
