NeighborWorks Housing Solutions’ “Fab Five” to Participate in Falmouth Road Race

Associates and friends of NeighborWorks Housing Solutions (NHS; www.nhsmass.org), the leading housing service provider in southern Massachusetts, are gearing up to participate in the August 21st Asics Falmouth Road Race, to raise funds to benefit the agency and the people it serves.

The NHS “Fab Five” has been training hard, getting ready and set to go when the 50th annual running of the road race takes off the morning of Sunday, August 21st.

The team consists of five runners from all over the Commonwealth, and each runner is challenged to raise $1,000 on behalf of NHS.  This will be NHS’s second time participating in the Numbers for Nonprofit program that the Asics Falmouth Road Race offers.

The individual runners include team captain Serenity Belo of Quincy, Chris Holmes of Amesbury, Sarah Roberts of Boston, Lindsey Tertan of Braintree, and Adele Burk of Hadley.  They will run the scenic seven-mile race that starts in Woods Hole and ends in Falmouth, and along the way be cheered on by thousands of spectators from all over the country.  As an added incentive for the NHS runners, Grey Properties has offered to match the amount of donations the runners raise, up to $5,000 total.

“It is so exciting to have an opportunity to run this race.  The Asics Falmouth Road Race is an institution, and I know we are all honored to be a part of it, “said Serenity Belo, team captain and director of resource development for NHS. “I am also grateful to Grey Property for matching the donations we receive.  This means we are able to double our impact and raise more resources for NHS.”

The Falmouth Road Race was established in 1973 and has become one of the premier running events of the summer season. The race draws an international field of Olympians, elite, and recreational runners out to enjoy the iconic seven-mile seaside course. The nonprofit Falmouth Road Race organization is committed to promoting health and fitness through community programs and philanthropic giving.

“We’re proud of Team NHS and its participation in this important fundraiser,” said Robert Corley, CEO of NeighborWorks Housing Solutions. “And we applaud Falmouth Road Race, Inc. for its devotion to the many programs that mean so much to so many people.”
