Holly Poultry Donates 25,000 Pounds of Chicken to Feed 78,000 People Struggling in the Aftermath of Hurricane Ian

Holly Poultry Inc., a family-owned Baltimore-based poultry processor and wholesale meat distributor servicing customers along the East Coast, is donating 25,000 pounds of chicken to feed 78,000 people struggling in the aftermath of Hurricane Ian.

A tractor trailer donated by Reliable Transportation Solutions will leave the company’s 40,000-square-foot plant on Thursday, October 6, 2022, for Fort Myers, Fla., at 2 p.m. In addition to the chicken, Holly will use the remaining space in the tractor trailer filling it with 1,800 gallons of water.

“Hurricane Ian came in so quickly that residents of Fort Myers and other parts of Florida had little time to prepare as the storm wreaked havoc on the area,” said Zach Fine, Holly Poultry’s CEO. “We conduct business along the East Coast and have the number one resource food. So, we said, ‘Let’s help ASAP,’ like we would do for any community that needs support.”

Holly is partnering with Mercy Chefs, a faith-based, non-profit disaster and humanitarian relief organization, and Holly client PDQ, which operates restaurants in Fort Myers. PDQ will prepare packaged meals that will be served to the community.
