DLA Piper’s Liliana Menzie Receives “Volunteer of the Year” Award from the San Diego Volunteer Lawyer Program

DLA Piper is proud to announce that Liliana Menzie, an attorney in DLA Piper’s San Diego office, has received the “Volunteer of the Year” award from the San Diego Volunteer Lawyer Program (SDVLP).

A longtime SVLP volunteer, Menzie has donated more than 500 hours of her time to pro bono representation of SDVLP clients since 2015. She focuses the majority of her pro bono practice on guardianship matters.

Last year, Menzie represented the aunt of two teen boys who had been sexually abused by their father and whose mother had passed away. Menzie’s advocacy was essential in helping the aunt obtain guardianship over the boys, ensuring their safety and stability for the whole family.

“Liliana has provided pro bono assistance to SDVLP clients for many years, tirelessly dedicating hundreds of pro bono hours in pursuit of equal, access to justice to these clients,” said Richard Gruenberger, the director and counsel for DLA Piper’s US Pro Bono Program. “We are proud of her hard work and dedication to serve others.”

At DLA Piper, Menzie concentrates her practice in international tax with a focus on inbound international tax planning for foreign nationals. She also devotes part of her practice to domestic estate planning.
