Biofire, a Broomfield, CO-based technology company dedicated to preventing firearm accidents, raised $14m in Series A funding.
The round was led by Founders Fund with participation form 10X Capital, Gaingels, Will Manidis, Draper Associates, Structure Capital, Service Provider Capital, and Gavin de Becker & Associates.
The company intends to use the funds to accelerate growth, expand operations and its business reach.
Led by Founder and CEO Kai Kloepfer, Biofire uses technology to help reduce firearm accidents, criminal misuse, suicides, and other tragic outcomes. Its Smart Gun® is a handgun with fully integrated, instantly unlocking, state-of-the-art biometrics. Ity instantly unlocks for users authorized by its owner, but remains secured from unauthorized use.
The company emerged from three years in stealth mode in May 2022 with the announcement of an over $17m seed funding round.
